Pluriportail vs. MonClubSportif: Is It Really a Duplicate?

Written by: Karl Demers August 2026

Several schools have already told us they use Pluriportail and are wondering if MonClubSportif would be a duplicate. That’s an excellent question.

In reality, the two tools don’t address the same need. Pluriportail is a comprehensive school portal designed to centralize the school’s academic and administrative operations. MonClubSportif, on the other hand, is a specialized platform for managing sports teams and extracurricular activities.

Comparison of MonClubSportif and Pluriportail

Here’s a table to clarify where each platform fits in.

Beyond the features, the difference is most evident in day-to-day use. As Charles-Rémy Sarrazin, sports coordinator at Collège Sainte-Anne, puts it:

“Pluriportail is designed for a thousand and one things, so the focus isn’t necessarily on sports and activities, whereas MonClubSportif was developed specifically for managing teams and groups. In that regard, it’s a bit more user-friendly, faster, and more functional. There are specific features in MonClubSportif that aren’t available as options in Pluriportail.”

Concrete Examples

Here are a few examples of situations where each platform is best suited.

An absence from a math class is handled through Pluriportail. Attendance at a basketball practice, a futsal game, or an extracurricular activity is better handled by a tool like MonClubSportif.

A message from the school to all parents can be sent through Pluriportail. Targeted communication between a coach, their players, and their parents regarding a change in practice schedule is better managed in a team-specific environment, such as MonClubSportif.

This is precisely what this day-to-day centralization enables. As Ms. Drainville, the sports coordinator at Collège Beaubois, explains: “The app really helps me a lot; I feel more organized. Even for the coaches, if I cancel a practice, I no longer have to send 15 messages—I just send one. If the coach sends a message, I see it. Sometimes there were things I didn’t know, but now everyone has the same information, at the same time, in the same place.”

Why Do Schools Often Use Both?

The goal isn’t to add another platform that complicates management, but to prevent school sports from becoming scattered across Messenger, emails, Excel files, or private groups. Pluriportail remains the school portal. MonClubSportif becomes the structured space for teams.

This distinction between school and sports also comes up in discussions with field coordinators. As Ms. Drainville explains: “I really feel like we had to move away from social media quickly to stay within the law, and you were ready even though the portal wasn’t ready yet. They’re really two separate entities: sports and school. Even the coaches were using different platforms, so the goal is to ensure that everyone uses the same one so that parents only have to check one place, even if they have multiple children.”

In a context where schools must better manage communications between adults, students, and parents, general-purpose tools aren’t always sufficient to address the realities on the ground for sports teams. MonClubSportif allows for the centralization of group communications and gives administrators oversight.

In Summary

Pluriportail organizes school life. MonClubSportif organizes school and after-school sports. The two can coexist, each fulfilling its own role.

And for a school that’s hesitant to add MonClubSportif because it already uses Pluriportail, the best insights often come from the field. When asked, “If you had one thing to say to another school that’s hesitant to adopt MonClubSportif because it already uses Pluriportail, what would you tell them?” Ms. Drainville replied:

“It’s really going to make communication easier. When I send a message on the portal, I don’t get a response because no one is going to reply to everyone, so it’s very individualized. There’s no sense of teamwork on the portal. On the MonClubSportif platform, everyone sees the same thing, everyone can comment, and you can see what others have commented on. There’s a stronger sense of teamwork on the app.”

That’s where MonClubSportif really comes into its own: not by replacing the school portal, but by offering teams a clear, shared space that’s better suited to their reality.
