Public funding: what’s in it for schools?
Public funding: what's in it for schools?
Did you know that every school has several budget envelopes to meet the various needs of the school and its students? As the end of the school year approaches, school principals are already preparing their budgets for next year. That’s why we thought it would be a good idea to do some research into the budgetary measures to be implemented next year.
These are sometimes little-known by teachers, yet they offer many opportunities to plan new activities or materials, for example. The total budget allocated per school is calculated according to the number of pupils. It’s important to stay informed and keep a close eye on how your school’s portfolio is managed, so that you can benefit from all the support offered by the government.
After reading several explanatory documents, we have identified a total of 8 budget measures that could be used to fund digital, technological, IT, wellness or safety projects.
We’re delighted to welcome back measure 15028 – Extracurricular activities in secondary schools. Among other things, this measure pays for technology tools such as MonClubSportif. To find out more, read our blog on this measure.
There are also a number of measures aimed at creating a healthy, safe and ethical sporting environment. First of all, there’s measure 15022, which focuses on well-being in schools and training centers. One of its attractions is certainly the importance it places on protective factors, such as social and emotional skills, self-esteem, a sense of personal efficacy, school climate and healthy lifestyle and mental health habits. In the same vein, measure 15029 – Lively, animated and safe school grounds and 15031 – Support for schools in implementing effective interventions to prevent violence and bullying and foster a safe, positive and caring school climate are also relevant to consider.
If you’re interested in developing technological or digital projects, the following measures are certainly worth exploring, starting with 15081 – Innovation projects related to digital technologies, 15082 – Digital educational resources, 15083 – Network for the development of student skills through the integration of technologies (RÉCIT) and 50750 – IT development and integrated management software packages.
