L’entraînement maison: Comment garder votre motivation

With the closure of fitness centers, home training is becoming the primary means of staying in shape. That said, it’s sometimes hard to stay motivated when you have to train exclusively at home. That’s why we’ve put together a list of 6 tips to help you stay motivated when training at home.

6 tips to incorporate into your home training routine

  1. Create a “gym” corner
  2. Create a motivating workout playlist
  3. Use training applications
  4. Incorporate online workouts into your routine
  5. Vary your workouts!
  6. Setting goals

Sans plus attendre, voyons ensemble comment implanter chacun de ces trucs!

1. Make a “gym” corner

When you work out at the gym, you have an entire area dedicated to training. At home, this reality is hard to achieve, sometimes even impossible. However, setting up a small “gym” area in the house with a few pieces of training equipment can bring that workout room feeling and help establish a routine and create a motivating, exercise-friendly environment at home.

What’s more, you don’t have to spend an exorbitant amount of money to have a proper workout area. Simple, basic exercise equipment such as weights, a mat and elastic bands will be all you need to create your own active space. Don’t be afraid to be original: you can even use objects lying around your home, such as old paint cans. There are many ways to create your own low-cost gym.

2. Create a motivating training playlist

There’s nothing better for motivation during physical activity than a lively playlist! In fact, it’s been proven that listening to music during training has numerous performance benefits. Whether it’s in your headphones or on your sound system, inspiring workout music is an extra source of motivation and will get you in the mood.

To inspire you, here are our team’s 10 favorite playlists! If you prefer, you can create your own playlists with your favorite songs! Don’t forget to get your neighbors some earplugs for your more intense workouts!

3. Use training applications

While it’s easy to get a workout at the gym thanks to the equipment available, it can be difficult to prepare complete workouts at home. This reality can greatly affect your motivation. If this is the case for you, an app would be an ideal option! Not only will you be able to do effective workouts, but you’ll also be able to track your results and progress! Discover here a range of free training apps, such as Nike Training and Skimble.

4. Make online training part of your routine

Online workouts are a great way to motivate yourself and vary your daily workouts. Many centers offer workouts, sometimes for free, sometimes for a fee, depending on the type of workout and the reputation of the person or company offering it.

There are several online platforms offering numerous videos and programs for your needs, such as UltimeFit, powered by Nautilus Plus. Of course, preparing personalized, tailored workouts is an art that requires proper training and study. In that case, if you’re a little less comfortable, at-home training videos are an excellent, motivating and interactive option.

5. Vary your exercises!

To stay motivated, it’s important to vary your home exercises. Instead of staying cooped up today, why not go jogging in your neighborhood? An outdoor gym near you? Check it out!

There are plenty of winter options, too, from skating to cross-country skiing. In fact, you can use winter to your advantage! There are a number of very physical winter activities that will help you stay in shape! Adding variations to your workouts will help you stay motivated and avoid constant repetition.

6. Setting goals

It’s easy to lose motivation when you’re working out without any real direction. By setting specific, measurable and, above all, achievable goals, you’ll be more motivated to maintain a fixed, consistent workout schedule at home.

Your goals will help you stay disciplined and accountable to your workout schedule. What’s more, achieving or surpassing the goals you’ve set for yourself will push you to push yourself even harder! Don’t hesitate to identify several simpler goals and review them each time you reach one.

It’s motivating to see progress and to acknowledge it. Every goal you reach deserves to be recognized, so congratulate yourself – you deserve it!
